How to Stop Worrying and Start Living

When I came up with this headline, I had absolutely no idea that a well known author had actually written a book of the same title!

This article is not about the book by Dale Carnegie, however, I have researched and will be quoting some info found on Wikipedia which was about Dale Carnegie’s book!

So, the reason I chose this particular topic is because I am often asked how I remain so happy and positive in times, of what seems to others, as hardship and stress.

I made a decision many years ago to never worry about anything that I could not change. If there is a situation that needs my attention and I can change it, then I don’t need to worry about it anyway!

There are many reasons to NOT worry.

Worrying can affect the body to the extent of causing physical illness

Excessive worrying can lead to anxiety, panic and unrealistic fears

Worriers become highly sensitive to their environment and to the criticism of others

Excessive worriers can see anything, or anyone as a potential threat leading to social isolation

Chronic worrying can affect your daily life, your appetite, relationships, your job

Once anxiety sets in, worriers can turn to harmful lifestyle habits such as smoking, alcohol or drugs and excessive eating.

So how can you break this cycle of worrying?

Massive Action is a great way to keep worry out of your mind. Keep yourself busy with interests that you enjoy to distract yourself from worrying thoughts.

Never sweat over the little things!

Ask yourself and answer honestly, “What are the odds against this thing’s happening at all” (Dale Carnegie – “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”)

If you know that the situation is beyond your ability to change or alter, let it be!

Really analyse the situation and decide if it is really worth your worry – how much of your anxiety is a thing worth? If it is worthless, refuse to give it your worry.

“Let the past bury it’s dead. Don’t saw sawdust” (Dale Carnegie – “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”)

I live among worriers, as do we all. But we do not have to be like them. We have the power to stop ourselves from worrying unnecessarily and save our bodies from stomach ulcers, worry lines and all of the other illnesses that accompany worry.

Getting Rich books. Are they worth the time?

I am currently reading ‘Think & Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill. ‘That old book!’  I hear some of you say.

Yes. That old book.

You know what, I thought I’d read it years ago but while starting from he very beginning again, it’s as if I’m reading it for the very first time.

Because, the reality of it is, I AM! I am a different person now to who I was a couple of decades ago when I may have read it for the first time.

Get rich BooksThe book planted seeds in my mind though. Its messages have spurred me on from my sub conscious over all of these years.

I have inadvertantly quoted Napoleon Hill during my life. My children will attest to this as mums words of ‘thoughts are things’ ring through their ears every time they state negative words, or feel hopeless, out of control, that this is their lot in life forever. My response is always ‘Thought become things’ and ‘everything is only temporary’. I have noticed the latest craze is airbnb management company books like this one.

I had no idea where I’d learned these words. I do know that I’ve believed them for a long time and have inspired others to change their thoughts by gently telling them in their moments of self doubt.

Re reading this book today is also bringing back the wonderful ‘feeling’ I had when I read ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne, and also when I watched the DVD that became hugely popular back in 2006. I recall the many ‘aha’ moments I had while reading the pages. Telling all who would listen that I had been living my life already practising what Rhonda was writing about! I was so excited and relieved, that I was not the only one that believed that ‘thoughts become things’. I really felt alienated by many of my peers and family due to my beliefs.

Now, reading ‘Think and Grow Rich’, I cannot remember exactly, But I think (and please correct me if I am wrong) that Rhonda was inspired by the same book, or another book along the same lines.

I am currently at a point in my life where people turn to me to ask advise. People express admiration and edify me simply just for me being me. This still humbles me immensely. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I believed that meant I would be a ‘school teacher’, you know, a traditional job kind of teacher. I did attend college for a few years to study that path. Wasn’t for me.

I went back out into the workforce, working in retail for a large corporation. I had my children. Changed careers a few times over the next 25 years or so.

But still, something was missing. I kept getting an overwhelming feeling that I was meant for another purpose. I kept reading, studying. Trying to find the answers of where I am supposed to ‘fit it’ in the whole scheme of things.

The answer lies within us all. If it ‘feels’ right. It is. if it ‘feels’ wrong. It is.

If you haven’t read it yet, I strongly recommend that you do. Start today. It is available for free through iBook or download HERE

Network marketing, my Two cents

Ever Since I can remember, I’ve wanted to do well at something….get out on a big box and tell everyone who cared to listen, how they could do well at something too…..I wanted to have people listen to what I had to say and for those people to feel so much better for it, to be motivated and passionate and for them to want to do the same for others too.

My ‘a ha!’ moment, was I guess, at a meeting I’d been invited to attend, you know, one of those Wednesday night meetings where you’re greeted warmly, introduced to extremely well attired business looking people and then you are seated to listen to stories of success. Stories of how these people had built their success  from nothing by a handful of speakers before being shown the ‘circles’ of the compensation plan – that will set you on your way to financial freedom and personal happiness – just like it has done for those that you heard speaking this evening.

I dreamed of being a leader – standing out in the crowd and helping others find their way to stand out too!

My eyes big as saucers, I watched, my ears strained from taking in every word. I WANTED TO BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE ON STAGE MAKING OTHERS FEEL THE WAY I WAS FEELING RIGHT NOW! I was feeling full of hope, mentally picturing my dream holidays, cars, homes, seeing my family free of struggle and enjoying only the best things in life. I knew then and there that if I did what these people told me, copied everything they showed me, that I would some day be one of those people on the stage telling people like me how to be successful like me and so on and on and on………

A better lifeThree times I left and rejoined this organisation, each time being more hopeful of success than the last. Each time, investing in books, CD’s products, burning off my family and friends with my constant babble of how marvellous my products were, how they would save money and help me grow my business by just shopping with me instead of those big corporate chains. I couldn’t even invite (J.O.B ) work colleagues out for an informative evening out with me without them becoming suspicious that I’d try to ‘sign them up’ or ‘sell them something’. See, I was very convincing in the beginning, had lots of people getting excited, sold a little product even…..but I could never recruit anyone, never convince anyone that I was a leader worthy of trusting and following on this quest for freedom from the restraints of the corporate chains that had us by the short and curlies because they paid our wages, our super, ensured our security and good standing in the community.

Does any of this sound like you? I see you nodding. I know I have not been alone, but I felt so. I guess you do too. Don’t feel bad. I did and now I don’t. I know it wasn’t me…not really. I was being let down by a system that was actually only meant to work for a few, a very elite few that had way better connections and credibility than I…..back then anyway

Do you have any idea what it really takes to be successful? Are you taking action every day to achieve your goals?

Are you building relationships with people or just giving your pitch?

What sort of business are you currently involved in? What are you investing your time and money into …..what are you thinking of stopping?

Please respond below and I promise to get back to you personally with what could be the solution you’ve been looking for too – and no, it’s not another MLM marketing plan presentation!

Life Mentoring

Sometimes life gets hard.

Do you ever feel as if the world is against you? That no matter what you do, everything seems to go wrong? How long have you felt this way? Can you pin point when things seemed to start going pear shaped?

I’ll tell you something that I really haven’t shared with many others in my lifetime.

I have not always been a positively positive person.

You see, when I was younger, even before The Secretwas published – even before I’d ever heard of Napoleon Hill, I practised visualisation.

What child, or young person doesn’t?

We see things and people on TV and we want what they have. We want to be like those people. Glamorous, Successful, Beautiful, Popular. We want the cars, the Homes, the lifestyle.

We dream of some day having those things. We even go so far as to visualise ourselves as THOSE people! Imagining and dreaming. Waking up with a smile as we’d FELT what it had been like to spend a short time in the lives of those we admired. Then……

Our dreams were shattered as reality set in. It seemed that everything I was positive was going to happen actually turned out to be the total opposite! I was confused! I began to forcefully stop myself from thinking and dreaming of what I wanted or how I wanted things to be, instead choosing the very opposite in the hope that the positive and happy stuff may come true as all that ever happened when I visualised things happening was that it didn’t!

Well meaning adults would tell me to ‘stop dreaming’ and live in the ‘real world’. I was told that I thought I was ‘too good to be a factory worker’,  that I’d never get anywhere as I wasn’t educated enough. Of course, I’d never even thought of applying for factory work as I didn’t even know it existed so how could I believe I was ‘too good’ for that sort of work!

I grew up with a very low self esteem as I was never good enough at anything. Reading by the age of four, I’ve always loved to read. I have devoured many books over my lifetime (I’ll post what I’ve read another day!)

I was never ‘pretty enough’ never ‘tall enough’ never ‘smart enough’. I played musical instruments – at a distance from the main house so that nobody else had to hear me. I sang when nobody was around as apparently it sounded like ‘cats being murdered’ when I sang along to my favourite records.

As a young adult, I felt invisible. I’d speak when in a group but was never heard. I was naive, boring and well, just no fun.

Does any of this resonate with you?

So, how do you get past all of this and go on to live a positively positive and fulfilled life? Sshhh…. it’s a big secret!

Of course it is no secret! Everybody is capable and deserving of a full, satisfying and successful life. The thing is – are YOU ready to believe you are?

This is where my life turned around. I discovered the difference between visualising what I wanted in my life and BELIEVING I DESERVED IT AND FEELING IT WAS ALREADY SO!

Have you noticed that when you acquire something new, you suddenly see, hear of feel it everywhere you go? Know why? I do!

Are you currently in a rut? Are you needing to find out how to break the pessimism and break free into the freedom of a positively positive life?

Here are the first 3 steps:

1.    BELIEVE and FEEL that good things are going to happen and come into your life

2.   BELIEVE and FEEL that you are worthy of receiving good things and feeling happiness

3.   FEEL – even if you have to imaging really hard at first – Let yourself FEEL what it would be like to be living your dream life right now! FEEL what your actions would be. FEEL the emotion of the words that you would speak to others. FEEL joy about everything that you have and all that you receive. FEEL gratitude.

Regardless of your religion, your spiritual beliefs. This will begin working very quickly for you. YOU will feel a shift in your mind as you STOP allowing any negativity to clutter your thoughts.
