In February 2004 The Art Directors Club seeked expressions of interest from designers worldwide aged 30 and under to exhibit their work in the ADC Gallery in New York City.
The Art Directors Club has released the names of the 35 young professionals selected for the biennial exhibition ADC Young Guns 4. Collectively, they represent the convergent fields of visual communications: advertising, graphic design, environmental design, film/video, photography, illustration and new media.
To celebrate the fourth exhibition, ADC expanded the once exclusive New York, invitation only exhibition into a worldwide competition. Entries - full bodies of work - were received from 21 countries. All entries were reviewed and 35 selected by a committee of cross-industry professionals including MTV Networks' Mike Joyce, Virgin Records' Sean Mosher-Smith, Ogilvy & Mather's Bill Oberlander, and provocative photographer Ellen Stagg, among others [refer to http://www.adcglobal.org/yg4/ for a full list of exhibitors and judges].
ADC Young Guns 4 will be on view at the ADC Gallery located at 106 West 29th Street in Manhattan, September 9 - October 30, 2004, before traveling abroad. Venues and dates to be announced. A full-colour catalogue will be available at the New York opening reception.
The Art Directors Club (ADC) is a not-for-profit association with an international membership. Programs include the annual competition, exhibitions, publications, symposia, workshops, scholarships, and other special events, at its 10,000 square foot gallery and office space in Midtown Manhattan. ADC Young Guns is a biennial and, as of YG4, international competition for young creative professionals.
ADC Young Guns is devoted to identifying and showcasing the most innovative people age 30 or under working in art direction, advertising, publishing, graphic design, illustration, photography, film and video, packaging and environmental design, experimental fashion and interactive media. As Young Guns recognises a body of work, it is not a traditional category-driven awards show.
